Thank you Governor Rauner, members of the Illinois Legislature, and the many TAP Advocates who contacted their elected representatives. We are happy to say that TAP’s funding has been restored through June 30, 2015. On April 30, the Governor’s office announced that additional revenues had been located and all the grants that had been suspended at the beginning of the month were being reinstated.
July 1, 2015 marks the start of a new fiscal year and a new budget. At this time TAP is not in the proposed FY2016 budget. Autism does not go away, nor does the need for the services TAP provides. We look forward to working with the Governor, the Legislature, and the Department of Human Services to secure TAP funding in the FY2016 budget. This will enable us to continue providing essential services to children and families across the state in the coming year. You will find current information about the FY2016 funding situation at www.save-tap.org.
